Hokoen Matcha Ryokuhou(緑芳)

Hōkōen is a long-established tea producer based in Jōyō City, Kyoto Prefecture, with a history spanning more than 160 years. The company uses carefully selected tea leaves grown in some of Japan’s finest tea fields, including the renowned farms of Jōyō. Nurtured by the rich soil of the Kizu River, each leaf is crafted with care and the greatest expertise.
What makes Hōkōen exceptional today is its hands-on care at every stage of production—from growing and harvesting to blending and finishing—keeping the essence of Uji tea alive. By overseeing every step, they create the rich, distinctive flavor that defines Hōkōen quality and tradition.
Hōkōen's commitment is simple: to deliver a consistently high quality green tea.
Ryokuhou is an extra premium, mild and rather light koicha tea. It offers a gently pampering, light, sweet sensation as an usucha. It is a far lighter and sweeter tea compared to the Senju, which is next on our list, with discreet body and sweetness compared to the extra special Shoukaku matcha immediately above it. It is an elegant, unique tea. Once drunk, never forgotten.
