Isuzu Sado Matcha (五十鈴)

This matcha has a fresh aroma with a hint of astringency, a subtle umami, and a slight bitterness. For the best experience, whisk it a bit lighter. It also pairs wonderfully when mixed with milk or cream in desserts and confections.
Limited quantity—first come, first served.
40g tins: best before January.

Isuzu FAQ

Quick answers for shoppers comparing this product before checkout.

What does Isuzu matcha taste like?
Isuzu has more body than the easiest entry tins. You still get a fresh aroma and a clean finish, but the bowl feels fuller, with more visible umami and enough presence to hold up in milk.
Is Isuzu better for straight drinking or for lattes?
It can do both. We would buy Isuzu if you mostly drink usucha but still want the option to make richer lattes without the matcha disappearing.

Beautifully bodied matcha!

Isuzu matcha from Marukyu Koyamaen is creamy, with luscious umami, sweeter than Aoarashi and Wako as Usucha without added sweetener, medium to full bodied, medium/deep green hue (cascading ribbons in my oat milk 😍)- it’s true love! For me, this also has no astringency and virtually no bitterness, I do add dark agave when prepared as heavily iced latte. One of my top 10!
