Nakamura Tokichi Matcha Premium 100g

Bring exceptional quality to everyday life.
Made exclusively from first-harvest tea leaves from Kyoto Prefecture, with selected hand-picked tencha blended in, this is a top-tier matcha.
From the first sip, it delivers powerful umami and an elegant sweet aroma. Even its bitterness and astringency are delicate, giving way to a finish of remarkable depth that lingers on and on.
Comparable in grade to Uji no Mukashi, it is mechanically milled yet retains a genuinely expressive aroma—whether whisked, blended into a drink, or enjoyed cold.
A matcha for a special cup, created to let the natural beauty of the tea itself shine.

Recommended preparation
Whisk with water, mix into drinks, or enjoy in cold preparations.
How to prepare usucha
- Place 2 chashaku scoops (2 g) of matcha in a tea bowl.
- Add 70 ml of water at 80°C (176°F).
- Using a chasen (bamboo whisk), whisk thoroughly.
Preparation notes
- Add the matcha and hot water, then whisk (or knead) thoroughly with a chasen.
- Matcha can form clumps. Before adding hot water, sift the powder or gently loosen any clumps with a dry chasen.
Flavor characteristics
Umami and sweetness sit at the heart of the flavor, creating a rounded, full-bodied taste with no harsh edges. Free from distracting notes, it leaves a deep, quiet finish that lingers gracefully.
Bitterness and astringency never dominate; instead, they provide the fine, precise definition characteristic of high-quality tea leaves.
Another defining feature is the ooika—the distinctive aroma developed through shaded cultivation—from the hand-picked tencha used in part of the blend. Because the tea is not overexposed to heat, its authentic aroma remains clearly present when enjoyed as is or used in cold preparations.
